- Very Nice Condition - VERY RARE
Up for sale is a Spanish American War US Navy Sailor's Flat Hat.  This is a Dark Blue Wool "FLAT HAT" that was used by the US Navy for over 111  years, from 1852 until 1963.  No rips or tears in the cover, no mothing.  Minor seam separation at the side of the head band.  It has no visible manufacturer's lable inside the cap.  It is named to: F.S. Ketchun.  It is ID'd to the USS Virginia BB-13.  C
onsidering it is 120+ years old, this hat is in Very Nice Condition.  Size Estimated at 6 3/4.  This is an early Span-Am War Vintage Hat.  They are very rare from this period and as seldom seen offered for sale.
USS Virginia was a United States Navy pre-dreadnought battleship, the lead ship of her class. She was the fifth ship to carry her name. Virginia was laid down in May 1902 at the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company in Newport News, Virginia, was launched in April 1904, and was commissioned into the fleet in May 1906.
