    Very Clear WWII German Death Card, KIA During Allied Bombing Raids Against FAMOUS PLOESTI, ROMANIA OIL FIELDS & REFINERIES
    DESCRIPTION:
    Original WWII German death card for a soldier KIA during tough allied bombing raids against Ploesti, Romania. This was the most significant action in Romania, AND THEY WERE CONSIDERED THE TOUGHEST TARGETS OF ANY BY THE 8th AIR FORCE, PARTICULARLY TOUGH AS THEY HAD TO GO BACK A SECOND TIME TO FINISH THE JOB. Specifically,
    "Otto Bauernfeind, sawmill operator in civilian life, obergefreiter in a mountain regt,  holder of the wound badge, who was killed in action on May 16, 1944 in Romania, aged 34, after 3 years faithful military service.". Nice clear photo, 1/2 view.
    Exc. Condition.
    Original item over 75 years old. A nice face and a story to a soldier who otherwise would be a forgotten statistic.
